Creating Videos Where I Talk About Programming

The Dort Packet-Boat from Rotterdam Becalmed by J. M. W. Turner , 1818

Hello, Internet!

Two weeks ago, I sent out the first issue of Dreamscape. I’m happy to see you sticking around!

Today I’ll cover the state of my YouTube channel youtube.com/@isak, and give tips for people looking to create their own videos.

Enjoy!

youtube.com/@isak

The first couple of videos on the channel was posted all the way back in 2018.

The channel then stayed idle until 2023, but since then I’ve been actively posting videos!

Uploading consistently has proved to be challenging, but the friction of creating a video seems to lessen for each new upload.

Process

For anyone looking to create videos similar to mine, here is an overview of my process of creating a video:

  • The microphone I use is the Shure SM57.
  • I display a video overlay on my screen using the free Camera Window application. The video is coming from my phone, which I place on top of some books.
  • I record my screen using the built in screen recorder, and yap about I’m covering without any script.
  • I edit everything in Premiere Pro, adding a broadcaster compression and noise reducing effect on the audio track.

That’s it!
